Correspondence

Translated by Norma von Ragenfeld-Feldman and Henry Friedlander.

To the Editors of the SWC Annual:

At the time you published my "Antisemitism in South Africa Dur- ing World War 11" (SWC Annual 4: 263-303), 1 had not been able to identify the author of the "Report on a Survey of Antisemitism." I have now done so with the kind assistance of Dr. Gideon Shimoni of Jerusalem and would like to share this information with your readers. The author of the "Report" was Simon N. Herman, who is today Professor Emeritus of Social Psychology in the Department of Psy- chology and the Institute of Contemporary Jewry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Professor Herman graduated from Cape Town and Witwatersrand Universities in South Africa, and continued his studies in the United States at Harvard University and at the Research Center for Group Dynamics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he worked under Kurt Lewin. Herman's pub- lications focus on ethnic identity, sociolinguistics, and cross-cultural education.
