IN-PERSON at the Museum of Tolerance

We are thrilled to invite Southern California educators to a FREE Celebratory event focusing on the enduring impact of the Freedom Writers and their historic partnership with the Museum of Tolerance.
When the Museum of Tolerance first opened in 1993, one of the first groups to join us was educator Erin Gruwell and her students (now known as the Freedom Writers) at Woodrow Wilson High School from Long Beach, CA. It's been over thirty years since that first visit and annual visits to learn powerful stories from the Holocaust, contemporary prejudice and discrimination and the tools and inspiration to take action.
This event will bring together original Freedom Writers, whose inspiring stories have touched the hearts of millions, to revisit the museum with their families. Join us for a profound intergenerational dialogue, bridging the experiences of the past with the aspirations of the future. By inviting educators, we hope to empower you and your families with knowledge and inspiration to continue building inclusive environments in your classroom and community.
Engage in guided tours, lively dialogue, lunch, a screening of clips from the film Freedom Writers and a Q&A hosted by Erin Gruwell and original Freedom Writers!
Watch a clip from the feature film depicting the students visiting the Museum of Tolerance and meeting respected Holocaust survivors.
Your presence will be a testament to our collective dedication to fostering understanding, acceptance, and equality. Save your spot today and be part of this historic event that continues to shape hearts and minds for a brighter, more inclusive future.
