Racial and Identity Profiling Train-the-Trainer:

Racial and Identity Profiling Train-the-Trainer is the official certification course for the POST mandated Racial and Identity Profiling training. This course is designed to engage the State of California’s peace officers in understanding P.C. Section 13519.4 and the 2015 A.B. 953 update, to include identity profiling. In this course, students will explore how explicit and implicit biases, prejudices, and stereotypes can impede effective law enforcement practices; how to apply the 4th and 14th amendments during evidence-based stops to prevent racial or identity profiling; historical events that have negatively impacted communities and police-community relationships; and strategies they can apply to build trust and enhance police-community relationships. At the conclusion of the course, students will demonstrate proficiency by participating in a teach-back exercise evaluated by the training staff.
