About
Harry Davids was born in 1942 in Nazi-occupied Holland. His parents were German Jews who had left Germany for the Netherlands seeking economic opportunity.
Soon after Harry’s birth, his parents made the difficult decision to give Harry to members of the Dutch Resistance who arranged for him to be hidden. He spent the first few years of his life living with the Bakkers, a Protestant family in the small Dutch town of Engwierum. After the war, Harry’s paternal uncle, who had been living in South Africa, fought a long and difficult legal battle to gain custody of Harry. Growing up with his "new family" in South Africa, Harry began to learn the details of his past. Harry has spent his whole life tracing his family history and unearthing the story of the parents he never knew.
For over three decades, Holocaust Survivors have volunteered their time at the Museum of Tolerance to speak about their experiences during World War II. Over 50,000 visitors per year meet and hear a Holocaust survivor or 2nd generation speaker. These speakers are ambassadors of memory, hope, and tolerance.
The Museum of Tolerance is proud to present live testimonies each week. Hear from Witness to Truth speakers as they share personal accounts—either their own or their parent’s experiences during the Holocaust.
Included with admission. Each session includes a Q&A.
