Para Todos Los Niños–For All the Children

This exhibition examines the fight for educational equality led by Latino families in Southern California nearly a decade before Brown v. Board of Education. Through photographs, replicas, and archival materials, visitors learn about segregation and discrimination in California that targeted non-White communities in housing, jobs, and schools.

The exhibition highlights the story of Mendez et al. v. Westminster and the broad, multi-racial grassroots efforts, including lawyers, parents, and activists, that challenged school segregation in rural Orange County. Their work not only closed many segregated schools but also advanced the wider struggle against segregated education for all children.
